Appointments

Please call 650-579-6500 to schedule your child’s appointment.

We recommend you show up 15 minutes prior to your child’s appointment in order to fill out any paperwork. Please remember to have your co-payment and insurance card available.  It is especially important to bring your insurance card if your insurance has changed since your child’s last visit.

Well Child Checks

Our practice strongly believes in the benefits of preventive health care. We recommend that your child be seen for routine well child examinations with their primary physician. At these visits, we will monitor your child’s growth and development as well as provide anticipatory guidance of what to expect until your child’s next well child check. We will also offer immunizations at the well child checks according to our immunization schedule.
We recommend that your child be seen at the following times: 1-3 days after your child leaves the hospital after birth, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, 6 years, and then every 1-2 years through adolescence.
Please go to the Form Downloads page to download a questionnaire and informational handouts prior to each of your child’s well visits. Bringing a completed questionnaire to your child’s visit will allow your pediatrician to focus the visit on your questions or concerns.

Drop-In/Sick Visits

If your child is ill, we offer same day drop-in visits.  We understand the complexities of juggling a busy schedule with the demands of an ill child. Thus, we want to give you the flexibility of when to bring your child in for a sick visit. You DO NOT need an appointment to be seen, and we do not schedule same-day sick visits. Bring your child in and they will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. When you register, you will have the option to see your child’s primary physician (if he or she is working that day) or the first-available physician. Our system gives our patients a great deal of flexibility in when they want to come in to be seen. However, we cannot control the number of patients who drop-in at any given time. Please understand that we will see your child as soon as possible. Click on the “Location and Hours” link for our Drop-In Hours. If possible, please call ahead if you are planning to drop-in. This call will allow our front desk staff to speed up the registration process. Ideally these drop-in visits are for acute problems such as ear infections, fevers, worsening cough, sudden onset abdominal pain, etc. Chronic medical problems (e.g. chronic headaches, chronic abdominal pain, constipation, etc) are best handled by your child’s primary physician and we encourage you to call and make an appointment to address those concerns. If your child is sick but does not need to be seen the same day, you may call for an appointment for a future date.

Prenatal Consultation

Here at ABC Pediatrics, we understand that choosing your child’s pediatrician is an important decision. In order to help you make an informed decision before the birth of your child, all open physicians at ABC Pediatrics offer a prenatal consultation free of charge. Your prenatal consultation will include a quick tour of the office and a conversation with the physician of your choice. Prenatal consultations are usually scheduled in the morning prior to the physician’s start of the day and typically last 15 to 30 minutes. Please call the office to schedule your prenatal consultation.

Some of our physicians will also offer to meet with parents who are new to the area and are looking for a new pediatrician. Please call the office for more information.

Please see our Form Downloads page to download important forms prior to your Prenatal Consultation.

Travel Consultation

Dr. Chapman is a pediatric infectious disease trained specialist. As such, he provides expert consultation for children and adults regarding international travel.  During his consult he will discuss country/region-specific travel risks as well as tips to prevent illness.  We can provide all vaccines recommended for travel for children and adults including Typhoid and Yellow Fever.  If you and/or your family are planning a trip (especially to a developing country), we recommend you schedule a travel consultation with Dr. Chapman at least one month prior to the start of your trip in case vaccines are recommended or required. Please be aware that your insurance may not cover the travel consultation visit or all of the recommended vaccines. If not, payment will be expected at the time of your consultation.
